A Message from HABJ President About Coronavirus

A Message from HABJ President About Coronavirus

Dear HABJ members,

Out of an abundance of caution surrounding Coronavirus concerns, the Houston Association of Black Journalists is canceling our General Body Meeting and Mixer, which was scheduled for Saturday, March 28.

Public safety and social responsibility is our utmost concern.

At the meeting, we were planning to update the public on details for the upcoming 2020 NABJ / NAHJ Convention and Career Fair, to be held July 8-12 in Washington, DC.

We are excited to announce that our Houston chapter will be hosting the KICKOFF PARTY at the end of the 2020 convention, in celebration of Houston being the HOST CITY of the 2021 NABJ Convention and Career Fair.

At this point, the convention and our participation in it are still in effect and we are continuing to work in alignment with our national board.

Those plans, in addition to other HABJ updates and upcoming workshops, will be discussed at our rescheduled meeting. (Date and time TBD.)

We at HABJ want to encourage everyone to remain healthy, practicing the safety tips available on the Center for Disease Control website (CDC) for Coronavirus prevention. We also encourage you to check updates provided by the City of Houston on its website.

Thank you all for your patience, understanding and support.

Respectfully,
Nakia L. Cooper
President, HABJ
