What happens in Vegas can now happen in Houston
HOUSTON -- Dance Houston, a professional dance company and non-profit organization committed to merging arts and dance, will host its 13th Annual Festival Saturday,February 21 at 8:00 p.m. at The Wortham Theater. Known for providing the ultimate high energy experience, this event celebrates and introduces collaborative dance to The Greater Houston community.
This one-night-only event features renowned creative directors Jane Weiner, Dominic Walsh, and Leslie Scates and promises to be one of the best showcases yet! In fact, 300 tickets have been donated to charitable organizations to inspire dance in underserved communities. "Houston is
diverse and our show is reflective of that, our showcase allows children of all ages and ethnicities to see themselves on stage", said Andrea Cody, founder of Dance Houston.
Featuring more than 100 dancers that have traveled the world and have returned home to Houston, attendees can expect more than just a show - but a dance theater experience that can be enjoyed by traditional and non-traditional theater-goers alike. This festival features performances by Dance of Asian America (Chinese Folk and Contemporary); Son Kiss'd
(Urban/Contemporary); Hope Stone (Modern);Compania Folklorica Alegria
Mexicana (Ballet Folklorico);Freneticore (Modern); Houston Met (Modern); Inertia (Breaking/Contemporary); and Nyrita (Classical Indian).
Tickets start at $16 General Admission.
100% of proceeds will benefit Dance Houston programs including educational training and ongoing support for upcoming events and shows.
