HABJ Student Mentoring Breakfast 2013 at KPRC-TV

Dear HABJ Members, Supporters and Mentees:

 

 

The Houston Association of Black Journalists will convene its annual Student Mentoring Breakfast on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at KPRC-TV to continue the organization’s mission of professional development and tradition of community impact.

 

Doors open to the 2013 HABJ Mentoring Breakfast with registration at 8:30 a.m. The program, which includes three panel discussions, will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at Noon. We have scheduled an additional hour at the end for networking.

 

We are seeking suggestions for panelists for these sessions:

  9:15 a.m.: The Three Bs of Social Media: Breaking news, Building Your brand & Being responsible

  9:55 a.m.: How to make yourself indispensible in a Newsroom: Tips from News Executives

10:45 a.m.: So you want to be a sports journalist?: How to succeed in this ultra-competitive field

 

Student Pre-Registration:

Any student who wishes to attend must pre-register via a personal email containing the student’s full name, school and Twitter handle to both cindy.george@chron.com and todd@regalmag.com with HABJ Breakfast in the subject line. Lists of students will not be accepted. Student reservations are limited.

 

Professional attendee Pre-Registration:

To ensure we have an accurate count and pre-printed nametags for professional attendees, please send a personal email containing your full name, media outlet/institution, title/position and Twitter handle to both cindy.george@chron.com and todd@regalmag.com with HABJ Breakfast in the subject line.
